ABOUT MARK OUIMET
A fifth generation Washtenaw County resident, Mark Ouimet has worked his entire life for the betterment of his community and each organization in which he’s become involved.
Beginning his professional career as a bank teller, Mark rose among the ranks to eventually serve as President and Chairman of the Board, a position he held until 1997.
A graduate of Northwood University, Mark earned his BBA and a Masters from LaSalle University. He later returned to give back to the university, serving as Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer from 1997 – 2002. During his time at the university, Mark was a key fundraiser for the school and led Northwood through its critical accreditation process. During his tenure at Northwood, Mark chose to commute from Ann Arbor to Midland in order to remain involved in his community and the numerous boards on which he serves.
Post-Northwood, Mark has become a key leader, manager, and fundraiser for several governmental, community, and non-profit organizations including the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce, the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce, The Council of Chambers, Ele’s Place, Mott Children’s Hospital, Ann Arbor SPARK, the Red Cross of Washtenaw County, the United Way of Washtenaw County, and Ann Arbor Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, and the Washtenaw Economic Development Council.
Mark began his public service to his fellow citizens upon his election to the Ann Arbor City Council in 1988, a position he held until 1992. In 2004, Mark ran for, and was elected to the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Ouimet currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board and serves on the Accommodations Ordinance Commission, Emergency Medical Services Commission, Michigan Township Association, Money Purchase Pension Plan, Retirement Commission, Road Commission (Liaison), and the Workforce Development Board.
In his service as county commissioner, Mark has continually earned the highest regards of his colleagues on the board, as well as the leaders of the local governmental units in Washtenaw County from both sides of the aisle, earning him re-election in the 2006 and 2008 election cycles.
Mark and his wife, Dr. Donna Hrozencik, reside in Scio Township and have two adult children, Mark (Kelli) and Courtney, and one grandchild, Trey.
